Emma Vaughn
Central Catholic
Emma Vaughan is a dedicated track and field coach and educator, currently serving as the head track and field coach and math teacher at Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon. A Clackamas, Oregon native, Emma graduated from Clackamas High School in 2004, where they were a multisport athlete competing in both basketball and track and field. They went on to pursue their passion for athletics at Clackamas Community College, earning junior college All-American honors in both the hurdles and long jump, while also continuing to play basketball. Emma then transferred to Concordia University-Portland to compete in track and field and pursue a degree in mathematics education, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.
After completing their degree, Emma returned to Clackamas High School, where they took on a teaching and coaching role. Over the course of seven years as the head track and field coach, Emma led the girls' team to four MHC district team titles and guided the boys' team to steady improvement, with a second-place finish in 2021. Emma was honored as Coach of the Year three times by their peers and had the privilege of coaching multiple state champions and state placers.
In addition to their coaching responsibilities, Emma was deeply involved in school leadership, serving as Department Chair, a member of the district leadership team, and contributing to various learning committees in the North Clackamas School District. In 2022, Emma transitioned to Central Catholic High School, where they continue to foster student-athlete's growth both on and off the track.
With a strong focus on communication, organization, and positive relationships, Emma is committed to helping all athletes and students reach their full potential and have a rewarding experience in athletics and education.
