Head Track Coach Emerald Ridge High (WA) /USATF Level 2 Coach

Bob Frey is the head coach at Emerald Ridge High School (Puyallup, WA). Prior to his time at Emerald Ridge, he spent three years as a volunteer assistant on the Washington State University staff following his time as a student-athlete. The Emerald Ridge women recently won back-to-back State Championships, including becoming the first team to score over 100 points in the state’s largest classification. Frey was awarded Washington State and Section 8 Coach of the Year honors through the NFHS for his teams’ accomplishments.

In his 12 seasons at Emerald Ridge, his hurdlers have captured 9 state titles, including the first woman to break 42 in state history; Emerald Ridge has 6 hurdlers ranked in the top-15 in state history. During this time, Emerald Ridge athletes also set state records in the heptathlon and high jump.

Coach Frey recently earned his Advanced Endorsement in the Hurdles through the USTFCCCA and has specialist certifications in the Jumps and Combined-Events through USTFCCCA. Frey is also a USATF Level 2 Coach in the Sprints/Hurdles/Relays & Multi-Events. Frey also serves as the Meet Director for the South Sound Classic, the co-meet director for the Washington State Combined Events, and is the director of the Washington Track & Field Academy, a USATF Club.
